China Railway Institute Railway Electrification Committee was founded in Oct. 1978 in Xi'an province and it is a subordination of China Railway Electrification Bureau Corporation (EEB). As a part of China Railway Institute, Railway Electrification Committee is the second grade institute that leaded by China Railway Institute.

According to stipulated constitution, one prefecture running four years.Mr. Liu zhiyuan, EEB' general manager, is the director of the fifths committee. Yuzeng, chief engineer of EEB, is administrative vice director. Other vice directors are Chen guofang( Academy of Railway Science) 、 Chen chunyang( Academy of Railway Science) 、 Wang jiaju(Beijing Railway Bureau) 、 Kangxiong( Academy of Railway Science) 、 Li qunzhan(Southwest Jiaotong University) 、 Zhu longju(Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive co.,ltd) 、 Chen shaozhang(Guangzhou Underground corp.). Otherwise, Shan shengxiong, vice chief engineer of EEB, is secretary-general and Lihong is vice secretary-general.

Railway Electrification Committee totally has 56 commissaries, which coming from 24 companies of Ministry of Railway (MOR). As a professional committee, it is leaded by director and took charge by secretary-general. Entire committee divided into six branches like substation, power supply, contact system, electromagnetic compatible, catenary accessories and urban railway transportation. One hundred and seventy six experts in these branches form the main power of design, construction, operation and applicable technique study. That is a stable intelligent guarantee for Railway Electrification Committee to hold high-level academic activities.

Under the lead of secretary division of China Railway Institute Railway Electrification Committee and the support of each subordinate company, Railway Electrification Committee actively takes up with academic intercommunion and innovation.

Large numbers of engineers and technicians in this committee step up exchanges and cooperation with other committees, local railway institutes and related companies in wide range of areas. Such as specialty theory, engineering scientific research, design, construction, equipment exploitation, technique training, operating management, etc. With unflagging efforts on technological renovation and academic exchange, our committee has got great headway in its talent scout, research and exploitation areas. For many years running, it won the title of "China railway Institute excellent committee" many times.

Main responsibilities of Railway Electrification Committee:

1.Study the main stream of specialty academic movements. Set down the plan of academic activities. Organize intercommunion at home and abroad. Clean up documents. Take advantage of this Institute to associate with other relative organizations and provide advice or idea to decision-making department of EEB and manufactories for reference.

2.Organize, recommend and deliver materials of " China Railway Institute technology award"

3.Recommend and deliver name list of experts to Sate Science and Technology Institute, China Railway Institute and CREC Institute Office.

4.Pay tax and deal with enrollment procedures and relative register work.

5.Solicit, edit and publish articles for academic activities.

6.Organize and deliver materials of excellent academic theses and excellent academic activities.

7.Prepare general comment for last year and activities plan for following year, and deliver them to superior academic institute.
